Good Day College and University Coaches!

Thank you for reviewing my NCSA recruiting profile.  My name is Amelia Hicks and I am a Senior student-athlete at Inderkum High School (IHS) in the North Natomas region of Sacramento, California.  My sport of choice is "golf!"  I live to play and nothing else on earth makes me feel as happy, confident, and fulfilled.

People ask me every day where I want to go to college and my answer is always the same, "Wherever I can play golf with dedicated and friendly teammates and coaches!" I am in regular contact with many schools and coaches, but have not yet committed to any college.

I started golfing at age 14 and, after being told by many I had a "natural swing," I began taking lessons. Now, I spend every moment I can on the golf course, at the driving range, and on the practice greens. I am the lead golfer on of my high school golf team, All-Conference MVP for the past three years, and an active member of both The First Tee of Greater Sacramento and the Junior Golf Association of Northern California.

In 2014, I hurdled some personal challenges and a brief slow-down in my athletic activities as my parents ended their 20-year marriage and we reorganized our lives; however, I am very happy to report I am back on the competition circuit and playing better than ever. I am excited to report I excelled during both the 2015 summer TFTGS and JGANC golf season and my final year of high school play.

Supplemental to golf, but with equal significance, I am an International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate Programme student (in three subjects) at IHS and a member of the school's "Link Crew" and "Leadership" groups.  I also volunteer time to the Greenhouse Center, the Sacramento City Front Street Animal Shelter, and The First Tee of Greater Sacramento's U.S. Kid's Golf and Little Linkers programs. I love animals and have a dog named "Putter" and a cat named "Chipper" (everything always comes back to golf!).

As a golfer, I have two key role models.  Professionally, I greatly respect Stacy Lewis who has demonstrated a steadfast ability to overcome considerable obstacles to achieve individual goals.  Personally, I admire Sara Scarlett, a friend and regional competitor who currently attends the University of Texas at Austin.  Sara taught me the importance of kindness and compassion and giving back to community.

As I continue to play with IHS, TFTGS, and the JGANC, I will regularly upload, for your review and consideration, my current golf schedule, scores, and stats, new play and form video, and academic and testing transcripts and scores as each becomes available to me. I would be very grateful if you would consider following my progress and invite you to contact me at any time to discuss the possibility of joining your golf program as a student-athlete at your college or university. I check my NCSA account daily and will respond to any communications and questions promptly!

Thank you for your time and consideration; have a wonderful and bogie-free day!

Amelia Hicks

  • 84 (45 Front/39 Back). PLACED THIRD. Blog: This was actually my first travel tournament. Had a wonderful time meeting new people and playing a new and challenging course. Learned the hard way that you need at least one practice round before competing, but thank you to the Napa Golf Course for your website tips … they came in handy (especially on hole 2 with that enormous tree in the middle of the fairway). Looking forward to more JGANC tourneys! #thankyounapa. http://jganc.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/jganc15/event/jganc1561/contest/1/leaderboard.htm

  • Camp/Event
  • Serrano Country Club Junior Tournament (Sacramento First Tee)
  • 6/29/15 to 6/29/15
  • 82 (39 Front/43 Back - Shotgun) PLACED FIRST AND OVERALL LOW SCORE. Blog: What a great day. Definitely not the score I am capable of, but who can argue with first place and overall girls low score! Favorite shot of the day? Hole 6 and PAR 5. Drove it straight down the middle; second shot used my 3-hybrid and hit the fairway 100 yards from the pin. Took out my gap wedge and, ugh, hit over the green, behind a couple of trees and in the bark :-( Pulled out my 5 iron and decided to punch out, landing on the green 23 feet from the hole and one-putted for PAR. I love a good recovery! http://tftgs.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/tftgs15/event/tftgs1549/contest/52/leaderboard.htm

  • 85 (39 Front/46 Back - Shotgun). Blog: WOW what a day and not the start I was hoping for with the summer competition season. Very sad to see seven fellow golfers terminate play due to dehydration and heat ... REMINDER - must drink lots of water! Started on the 11 hole at 1:30 p.m. and agonizingly struggled through the back. Proud to have rebounded on the front with 5 PARs and 1 Birdie but I expect more from myself~! Looking forward to redemption at the David Oxley Memorial at Diamond Oaks next Monday and will be practicing all week to prepare~! #PracticeMakesPerfect #Comback
