My name is Braeden Stewart, and I am a diver for Cheyenne East High School. I lettered this past season and was the highest-placing freshman on my team. Out of the entire state of Wyoming, only three freshman qualified for the state meet in the 4A division (which is the highest division in Wyoming). Myself and one other freshman made it to the top 12. At Regionals, I placed 5th and was the highest-placing freshman.
My diving skills are truly an extension of the past 13 years I've spent in gymnastics. Because our state does not offer competitive high school gymnastics, gymnasts either transition into diving or into track/field. I have found that as a level 8 gymnast, my skills have translated well into my diving. I attended Frontier Gymnastics and retired as a level 8 gymnast so that I could focus on diving. I competed in my first gymnastics meet when I was 5 years old.
Academically, I am enrolled in the International Baccalaureate® (IB) program. This program focuses on a rigorous academic schedule that specialize in advanced-level classes. I am in advanced math, and have been since elementary school. Currently, I'm in Honors Pre-Calculus as a freshman. This class is typically reserved for junior-level students. I am also in my third year of French, and plan to continue my studies in this language through graduation.
I am in the DECA club at my school. In DECA, we work on projects that help market different events in our community. Right now, we're working a promotional project for Cheyenne Frontier Days, the world's largest outdoor rodeo. I have found that marketing allows me to be creative and expressive.
I have played competitive softball since I was 5 years old. I am getting ready to start my second season on Extreme, which is the elite girls' travel softball club in Cheyenne. I am a pitcher for this team.
After high school, I will attend college and focus on either medicine or engineering. I have the drive and the academic performance to reach my goals. I would love to dive at the collegiate level.
I hope to visit with some of you soon.
