Ever since I was a little girl I have always liked going to school, and that attitude has stayed with me all through high school. My academics are extremely important to me. I am a perfectionist at heart and never quit anything once I've started, whether it be a project, a team, or a even a book. My parents have always pushed me to study and do homework (my father is a retired teacher), but the real drive comes from within. I spend countless hours studying and realize that hard work and persistence pays off. Like I said, I am a perfectionist, so when it comes to grades and a report cards I expect the best from myself.
The way I am in the classroom carries over to my approach on the basketball court. I work hard and never quit. I hate losing! I am always looking to improve my game and I work constantly on my shooting and ball handling. My Dad once told me if I spend five to ten minutes a night doing some dribbling drills in the kitchen before bedtime that the ball would become part of me. And I have taken his advice. In season and off season I do my ritual in the kitchen before bedtime (some nights very late) working on cross-overs, behind the backs, machine gunning, power dribbles, etc. four times a week. My left hand has become as good as my right. On the court I am unselfish believing the best way to win is as a "team". My coach once told me I am the most unselfish player she ever coached. However, if I see that open lane or a good shot I do not hesitate to go for it. During practice I am a hustler. I never walk between drills and I always push myself to finish first during conditioning drills. I am the player that is willing to go the extra mile to set myself apart from everyone else.
My future goals are two. My first immediate goal is to play college basketball at the Div.II or a very good Div. III program. Having the opportunity to play basketball in college would be amazing. I have attended Div. I, Div. II and Div. 111 games and have concluded that I could play at a low Div. I level and any Div. II or Div. III level. My second future goal is to do something in the health professions. I see myself moving into the medical field, whether it be nursing, physical therapy, or physician assistant. I see myself doing well in that chosen profession. My dream school is one that offers me the opportunity to play basketball and the opportunity to pursue my career goals. Right now there are two Div. II schools that have offered me scholarships, Saint Thomas Aquinas College and West Chester University. There are over 45 Div. III schools trying to get me to play in their program. As of now the top Div. III schools on my list are Widener University, York College of Pa., Lebanon Valley College and the University of Mary Washington I have researched all the schools noted and have found so many positive things about these two schools academically and basketball wise. Hopefully my future goals of college basketball and a career in one of the health professions will be achieved. No one will work harder on the court or in the classroom to reach these goals.
