Hello Coaches, My name is Janelle James. I just started my junior year at Teays Valley High School. I have played basketball since I was in second grade and I began playing AAU/ travel basketball at the national level when i was in the sixth grade. In 2011, I played for Team Ohio and we finished 2nd at Nationals in Orlando div II in the 14 U class. In 2012, I played with the Ohio Lady Jayhawks 17 U Elite and we played some of the top teams in the nation at national events and competed well. I have played and started at the varsity level since my freshman year. I was invited to play in the Ohio Girls Basketball Report batttle of the border, where the top girls in their grade from Ohio compete against Michigan's top girls. I was also invited to the Midwest showcase and OGBR top 64 showcase tournament in September 2012. I am playing in a fall basketball league and working out and shooting to prepare for the upcoming high school season and beyond. I am focusing on basketball full-time after also playing volleyball from second grade until this season. I decided , at least for this season, to concetrate on basketball and classwork. For the past two years, I have played competative basketball for 10 months out of the year. I believe with this dedication to the sport I love, I will be able to fulfill my dreams and goals of playing at the collegiate level. Off the court, I have been in 4-h for several years, I volunteer to help at events such as the Special Olympics and the United Way. I take all college prep classes at school and I am in Honors Biology and Math. I have a 3.0 GPA and I will be working on getting my GPA higher this year and next. My athletic goals this year are to help lead my team to a mid-state league title, go as far in the central district division 1 tournament as we can, be the best basketball player on the court, and the best student/person off the court . My goal is to play basketball at the collegiate level while earning a degree in Law. I want to thank you in advance for your time and consideration, Janelle James
