I started playing basketball when I was in the 5th grade. I knew the minute I held that ball, this sport would become my everything. In the 8th grade, I was a varsity starter at my high school I now go to. My work ethic and my dedication to the game of basketball has made me the person who I am today. With the help of my supportive family, I have grown as person and as a player on and off the court. I've learned that nothing comes easy and nothing will ever be handed to you in life in general. My father once told me, "Whenever you aren't putting in work, someone is working harder than you without you even noticing." That is something I have lived by since the day my father told me.
I have academic goals I'd like to accomplish before graduating high school. Next year, I will be taking my ACT test. One of my personal goals is to score a 28 or higher. I know scoring high on my ACT will help me pursue my goals of entering a college on my list. After taking my ACT test, I will continue to work hard to maintain my chances graduating with a solid 4.0 GPA. I will also have the same mindset going into the college level. My extreme self-motivation not only occurs in the classroom but on the basketball court as well. From starting varsity at such a young age and having to play up my whole career, it has taught me to be an extremely hard worker and has help develop me into the strong leader I am today.
