~~My name is Lanesha Hawkins, I am a sophomore at Early College High School but I play for Franklinton High School. I have been playing basketball since I was 7, learning how to dribble and shoot the ball. In the Fifth grade I had the opportunity to play in a layup competition at NC State and win a free scholarship to camp. At the age of 11 I played my first year in rec league. That experience showed me that I had ability and talent to keep moving forward and working on basketball. I am a hard worker and I never think that you can’t improve. Every day you can work on something that can make you a better player. No matter how many times I lose, it only makes me want to get better and prove that I am a winner. My personal motto is "Your weaknesses only make you stronger". When I am on the court my focus is on being the best player I can be. Playing smart and playing tough. "Fear is a mindset”, so never be afraid! I am different than most basketball players, first there is school, and then there is basketball! Basketball is a way of life, if you want to be the best you have to work for it, confidence goes a long way. Basketball is also a physical sport, so that’s why I keep calm, I’m very energetic but I’m never cocky or rude or disrespectful to the ref's or coaches. "Your attitude determines your altitude"
