Hailey Ottaka '15 Recruiting Profile

I am Hailey Ottaka. I would like to introduce myself to you.  I am 17 years old and at the end of my junior year at Comsewogue HS, here in Long Ilsand, NY.  Being one of the tallest girls in school at 5'11, I tend to stand out in a crowd.  But really, I am just a regular teenage girl who likes to hang out with her friends and go shopping and have a lot of laughs.

I love to play sports.  Out of the 3 sports I play, basketball is my favorite by far.  I've made so many friends while playing on a few different teams and I always notice myself improving. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I notice my improvement and it makes me feel proud of myself, so that's why I love it.  Currently I am a 3 sport athlete at my HS and play AAU basketball.  I play Varsity Volleyball, Basketball and Lacrosse.  The Lacrosse definitely helps me get in shape for AAU season.

I started playing AAU in 8th grade, and these last 3 years have gone by so fast.  It doesn't seem possible to begin my last year of AAU.  I have to thank my parents for being so supportive of me. This year we will be doing a lot of traveling. Please check out my schedule!  My Dad is a NYC Detective, and probably my biggest fan, next to my Mom.  I couldn't ask for anyone better than them.

I am introducing myself to you because I am determined and committed to playing basketball at the next level.  I am confident I am up to the challenge.  I realize I have a lot to learn, but I am willing to do the work to make my dream come true.  I am working at it every day.  I would love to hear any feedback you may have.
