I am now entering my Junior year in high school, and this will be my fourth year as a varsity basketball player. I started as an 8th grader, as the quiet, shy girl. As the years have progressed, I have become more confident in my abilities and showing my true self. I've become a leader both on and off the court. My coach complimented me at the end of last year at our annual team dinner saying I helped make everyone on the court a better player. I try hard to lead by example both on and off the court. My whole life I have always strived for excellence in all that I do, I am competitive by nature, both in sports (playing JV volleyball and Varsity basketball as an eighth grader) and in my academics (3.9 GPA, AP & Honors classes and National Honor Society). Something can always be done better, quicker, faster, and I do not settle - always working to raise the benchmark. My previous three years on the varsity squad has definitely allowed me to mature faster, being five years younger then the oldest senior when I first started. I also played JV Volleyball as an eighth grader, and made the Varsity Volleyball team as a 10th grader. I have participated in team sports since I was four years old and played soccer with my dad as the coach. I was the kid, when teammates asked who won, and parents would say it's a tie, I would say, "No, we won, score was 5 to 4". I wanted to be accountable even at that age for wins and losses! My parents also remind me of times, I would get frustrated at teammates for not giving 100% and not leaving it all on the court. I always give 110%, I want to know when I step off that court, win or loss that I gave it all, and have no regrets. Crunch time, I am the girl who wants the ball, I do not shy away from pressure, I want it all on the line. Playing basketball at the next level and being able to get the best education possible while doing it - that is my ultimate goal!
