When I was three years old, my brother began playing competitive basketball for our hometown's basketball program. For my brother's team, my dad was an assistant coach, and I always tagged along to their practices during the week and watched all of his games on the weekends. By the time I was four years old, I loved basketball and wanted to play it myself. Since I was four years old, I have been playing basketball and trying to improve my skills. Through the years, I have played volleyball, softball, football, swimming, track and field, and I even have a black belt in taekwondo as well, but basketball has always been my sport.
Participating in basketball has helped me set very high expectations for myself on the court, in the classroom, and in my everyday life. On the court, I work as hard as I possibly can, even when I am tired. In the classroom, I participate in class, do my homework to the best of my ability, and study until I know I will be able to get the best grade possible on a quiz or test. Throughout high school and college, I plan to keep these expectations I have set for myself. I have learned to manage my time because of basketball. By the end of middle school I was playing on three basketball teams (school team, town team, and select club team), this was quite a challenge. This schedule made me master managing my time, a skill that I will need in college and when it's time to get a job and have a family. Because of basketball and encouragement from my family, friends, and teachers, I have the desire to play high school basketball and then someday play for a college program.
