At the age of seven, I lost my dad to leukemia. He fought this disease for 7 years. I was 2 weeks old when he was diagnosed with this cancer. I believe that he had a great influence on my life because I watched him fight to stay alive when all he had to do is give up! He was a high school basketball coach, and I was in the gym at a very early age. I got to see how much he not only taught his players the game but how much he cared for them. Because of his dedication to his teams, the Desoto Central High School gymnasium is named after him. I love basketball just like he did and want to make him proud as well as myself.
My most important goals in life are to continue pursing my dreams which include academic and athletic success. I want to make sure that my life expectations will be reached to their full potential. I believe I would be a good candidate because I am a very dedicated person and will work hard in every aspect of my life. Sports have taught me time management, goal setting, teamwork, and commitment . I am looking for a college that best fits me academically and athletically.
