"Hard Work Is Undefeated" is a motto that I adopted at the beginning of my Freshman year and I live this motto on the field, in the classroom and in my life. During my first year of high school, I learned the meaning of perseverance, both individually and as a team, and how to work harder even when all the odds are against you. As a result, a college coach can look forward to me being an excellent example of hard work, dedication, good character and a never quit attitude from day one! I expect this of myself and I know that one season won't define myself or my team.
My name is Joseph Perkins and I am a 10th grade (Class of 2020) Student-Athlete at Madison-Ridgeland Academy (MRA) in Madison, MS. I am in my first year at MRA. I start on the Varsity Football Team (MAIS AAAA) as Strong Safety and I also play Cornerback and Wide Receiver. So far this season through mid season, I have 40+ total tackles, 2 INT, 6 Pass Deflections, I receiving TD and 43 reception yards on 3 catches. Later on in the school year I will be playing on the Varsity Soccer Team and in the spring I will run Varsity Track.
I enjoy spending time with my family, playing with my little brothers, being active in my church, and mentoring younger athletes. I also participate with the MRA Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Pre-Med Club and the Debate Club. My college education will be very important to me as I want to graduate from whichever college/university I attend. My parents and grandparents attended college and earned their degrees. They have set the example that I want to follow. I want to play college football and my education is just as important. I aspire to become a sports physical therapist. I enjoy all aspects of football and I believe I will be involved in the sport for a very long time. I know the path I have chosen will be a difficult one; however, I firmly believe that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens Me."
