Making the varsity team as a freshman got my high school basketball career off to a roaring start. With that, having my coach develop an offensive system that was based on shooting quickly (within the first 5 seconds) and outscoring the opponent helped push me to develop what has become my staple outside shooting ability. I feel it was this first year with the migration into my sophomore year that helped me develop the most as a student-athlete. I had spent all of my adolescence being the tallest girl on the court. I had mastered the inside game with rebounding and shooting within the paint. It was in my early teens when I slowed down growing at 5’10” and the teams we played (as well as my teams) all had girls equal or in most cases, taller. This pushed me to the outside and into, at that time, unfamiliar territory. My coaches pushed me to do those things I was originally not comfortable with and because of that, I have a complete game from anywhere on the court. I learned the value of commitment, hard work, and sacrifice to open my game up to new areas.
I am looking for a program that will continue to push me to new levels both athletically as well as academically (currently at the top of my class in GPA (4.0) with honors). I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two-sport athlete (soccer state-winning goalie also), I know I have what it takes to be a leader on your team.
