Personal Statement

Hello. My name is Sarah Bartel. I am a 5'7" sophomore point guard and shooting guard at Independence Community College in Independence, KS. My hometown is Newton, KS and I played for Newton High School.

I've been playing basketball since I was a second grader and have loved the game before I even stepped foot on the court. My passion, love of the game, competitiveness and the feeling of being part of something bigger than myself is what drives me day in and day out. I'm one who thrives when I'm pushed. If you tell me I can't do something on the court or I'm struggling with something, I'll make time to work on it until I'm able to do it. I'm mentally tough and I never quit. Some of my best qualities on the court are my leadership skills, communication, defense, ball handling, taking care of the ball, drives, and passing. I keep a cool head under pressure. I'm coachable as well. It's rare that I have to be told to do something twice. I'm a player coaches can count on to do something whether it's getting a pass where it needs to go, shutting someone down on defense, breaking a press, getting to the rim, or being there for teammates and leading by example.

Off the court, I'm an excellent student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while taking honors and AP courses through high school and my first year of college. I've also helped tutor my teammates during trips where we've missed class. Teachers will tell you that in the classroom, I take notes, I'm respectful, work hard and always turn my homework in on time.

My ultimate goal is to play at the highest level possible and to continue to grow as well as thrive at that level while continuing to get my education.  I want to thank you for taking time to view my profile and hope you will consider me for your team.

Thank you and God Bless,

Sarah Bartel

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
