It was the tournament championship game of my sophomore season. My team was down 8 points at the half, one of my fellow starters was injured, and I knew I needed to step up. The game came to me, and I went on to score twenty points in the second half to help my team pull off a win and cap off an undefeated season. This statistic meant more to me than simply points because this performance was to help my team. I love basketball for the thrill of competition and the spirit of camaraderie. My experiences playing basketball have taught me when a team learns to work really well together they can become unstoppable.
I enjoy rising to the challenge, whether academically or athletically, because I value hard work, and I enjoy seeing it pay off. During my first season in third grade my team lost every game, and in 7th grade I didn't start for my school or travel team, but during my freshman and sophomore seasons I started every game, and we were back-to-back conference champions. This progress is the product of hard work and year-round, daily practices. In the classroom I work equally as hard, and I hope to study medicine in college. I am looking for a program that values teamwork, hard work, and academics.
