I started on the Varsity basketball team as a freshman and sophomore. My freshman year I earned Honorable Mention All Conference honors, and my sophomore and junior year I earned First Team All Conference Honors. This past season my high school team won conference, and made it to the Super Sectionals (Elite 8) in 3A. We lost a close game to the team that ended up getting first in the state. We were one game away from the Final Four. We have all of our key players coming back next season, so our goal is to make another run at State.
My sophomore year I earned Oregon All Tournament Team honors, All Conference Honors, IHSA State Qualifier for the 3 Point Contest, and was honored as Sports Connections Girls Area Underclassman of the Year. I averaged 11.9 points/game, 4.2 rebounds/game, 2.9 assists/game, and shot 76% from the FT line. I was 1st on my team in FT's and steals, and was 3rd on my team in rebounds.
My junior season I made the Waubonsee Valley All Tournament Team, was one of five players selected out of 16 teams to the State Farm Classic All Tournament Team, made 1st Team Big Northern All Conference, and was selected to the AP Class 3A Honorable Mention All State team, along with Special Mention on the combined 3A/4A Coaches All State team. I played a lot of minutes during my high school games, and only averaged 1 turnover/game.
I am the type of player that can run the court and break presses. Ball handling is a strength of mine, and I have great court sense and with my speed I can break down any press and penetrate on offense. My outside shooting is an additional threat, and I am a top rebounder on my team. My speed and quickness gives me an advantage over other players on defense, as I can anticipate passes, and will beat players to the ball on rebounds.
I started playing travel basketball when I was in 3rd grade, and played for the Rockford Wildcats through 9th grade. I then went and played for Midwest Sports Academy out of Elgin, and am currently playing for the Rockford Heat Elite team this summer.
I have a 4.0 GPA, 4.5 weighted GPA, and have been on the Honor Roll my first three years of High School. I am currently taking honors classes in Spanish III, Junior English and Algebra II.
I have not yet decided on which field I want to study in college. It has always been my goal to play basketball in college, and I understand the dedication it takes to play a sport while keeping academics a priority as well. I have never settled for being average, and have always tried to make a difference on and off the court. I am excited to find the college that will challenge me in basketball, as well as in academics.
