Asya Smith '21 Recruiting Profile

Ever since I placed my hands on a ball (basketball, softball, soccer ball), I have absolutely enjoyed playing multiple sports at a competitive, high level, and I look forward to continuing those endeavors in high school and beyond, especially with basketball.  I am fiercely competitive, but the most important qualities my parents instill in me is to always give 110%, be an ambassador for whatever sport I play, and appreciate that sports are not just a display of physical skills but also mental fitness.

To be successful in life, it takes dedication, practice and training, and “picking yourself up” when you fall, and athletics are no different. I view failures and challenges as opportunities to excel and seek every chance to grow personally and be a leader, both on and off the court.  I consider myself a leader who is not concerned about individual statistics, instead, motivating and bringing out the best in my teammates and looking at the final results on the scoreboard, not the stat books.

Though I crave sports, academics are my priority so I pursue a school that can provide both an enriching athletic experience as well as a great educational experience.  I am confident I will excel at the next level and promise to bring my “whatever it takes” attitude, leadership, and commitment. I will be an asset and positive influence on your program as well as the college community.
