My name is Abi Oates a 5'7", 160 pound, class of 2020, small forward/guard from Register, Georgia. I am ranked number two in my class with a 4.0 GPA and have made Honor Roll every year. I started on the Pinewood Christian Academy varsity team all of my freshman year and the last half of my eighth grade year. Last season I was voted GISA 2AAA All-Region by the region coaches. I have been playing travel ball for six years and during those seasons my team has played over thirty games each year. My strengths are being a leader on and off the court, encouraging my teammates, demonstrating a high basketball IQ, having good court vision for passing, being a tough rebounder, and having a strong mid- range jumper. But the qualities that I pride myself most in are working hard, playing for Christ, being coach-able, and having a great attitude in all situations. The radio announcer for my high school team gave me the nickname "The Glue" during the region tournament my 8th grade year. This nickname illustrates my ability to hold my teammates together and be under control during pressure situations. I would like to go to a university where I can find a balance between academics and the court while contributing to the success of the team. I am very committed to developing my skills. I have a full size basketball court at home and the Gun automatic rebounding machine. I have shot an average of 1100 shots per week for the last three years while working on ball handling drills and strength/agility drills.
My academic goals are to be Valedictorian of my senior class, to continue making Honor Roll each year, and to do my best in all my classes. My athletic goals for high school are to win a state championship, to be voted All- Region and All- State, and most importantly to be a leader and encourager on my team. My college academic goal is to graduate Summa Cum Laude while still continuing to play basketball. My basketball aspirations are to make an impact as a freshman, be a leader on my team, and get better each season.
