My name is Khamya Christodonte and I attend Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, CT. I am a 5’2” (and growing!) combo guard graduating in 2021. I am right-handed with a very-strong left hand (dribbling, finishing, and shooting).
I became serious about playing basketball in the 5th grade and have been playing year-round, six days per week on average, since then. While playing basketball in middle school, I was heavily relied upon by my teams. In AAU, often playing against Varsity players, I was the go-to defender assigned to lock down the opposing team’s best player while my teammates stayed in a zone. For my local Ridgefield town team playing in the Fairfield County Basketball League, I led our team to become the 8 grade B-Division Champions in our final season together.
I am a hustle player who is aggressive on defense and can rebound well for my height. I am fast and can get the ball up the court. I am a team player who is very coachable and determined. My style of play creates opportunities for success for my teammates as well as for myself. I am committed to the process of getting better. After having the best three point shooting AAU spring season of my career in the 8th grade (https://youtu.be/jJ6HWGm2t1o). I worked with a shooting coach to increase my FG % over the summer. The result: I adjusted my shot form by about 2 inches to consistently align my elbow and knee, and increased my shot percentage on my personal shooting machine by 10%.
Off the court, I understand the importance of being a student first and take pride in succeeding in the classroom. My goal for this freshman year is to maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA. I would love to attend a college that will provide me with the opportunity to play the sport that I love while also providing an academic curriculum that best prepares me for life after school—though I consider myself a life-long learner.
