Jaylin Jones '15 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I am Jaylin Jones, a junior at El Dorado High School.  I am dedicated and working hard to achieve my goal of receiving a scholarship to play basketball at a university.  I have a strong work ethic, am coachable/teachable, and I am a great team player.  For the past two seasons I have led my team in field goals, rebounds, and free throw percentage.  Last season (2012-2013), I helped lead my team to the CIF Southern Section Semi-Finals and the school's first ever California State playoff berth.  This year (2013-2014), I averaged (19.5) points per game and (9.1) rebounds per game overall and (21.1) points per game and (10.4) rebounds per game in league and I was selected as the Century League co-MVP.  I was the leading scorer and rebounder in the Century League this season (2013-2014) and the second leading scorer in all of Orange County as well as a top rebounder in the county (OCVarsity.com, Girls Basketball Leaderboards, 2014).  Additionally, our (2013-2014) team was the CIF-SS 2A Finalists and I was awarded 1st Team All-CIF-SS honors for the second year in a row.  Also, I helped lead our (2013-2014) team to the CIF-State Semi-Final round.  Most recently, I was named as one of five players to the (2013-2014) All-Orange County Basketball 1st Team (OC Register, April, 2014).  I am a versatile player on offense and defense.  Offensively, I can effectively shoot the 3-pointer and mid-range jumper, handle the ball in the open court, along with explosively driving to the basket and grabbing offensive rebounds and powering back up to the basket (leading my team in "and 1" attempts for the past three seasons).  Defensively, I was called upon to defend the other team's best offensive player, which included guards and forwards as well as post players.  I am looking for a university that has strong academics, along with a great basketball program, where I can learn, grow, develop, and excel as a student-athlete.
