Personal Statement

I’m lucky: I’ve already found three things I am passionate about.

I have always been an athlete. I was playing with any kind of ball I could even before I could walk. I started out playing soccer when I was 6 years old, following after my mom’s passion for sports. However, I discovered basketball at a summer camp between 3-4th grades and have loved it ever since.  I remember asking my mom on the way home from that camp, “Is it OK if I like basketball better than soccer?”  She assured me I could love whatever sport I wanted. I played both soccer and ball for several years, but focused on my basketball once I got on an AAU traveling team. I know basketball is the sport I want to play at the next level!

I have also known I want to be a veterinarian since I was very young.  Caring for animals is something that I feel very deeply about. I am excited about taking the next steps towards becoming a Vet:  studying at a college that will prepare me well for graduate school in Veterinarian Medicine.

Something else that I enjoy is making special cakes for my teammates.  I pick a symbol of something important to each person (or sometimes they tell me what theme they want) and I create a cake especially for them on their birthday. For Senior Day at school, I made a cake that looks like the logo or mascot of the university that each senior on my basketball team will be attending. Even though each cake can take hours to complete, I love doing it and it has been a fun way for me to get closer to my teammates and build team unity off the court.

I am grateful for the passions that I have found early in life and am excited to find an institution where I can continue to expand on these passions and develop them further!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
