Kristen Gowdy '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kristen Gowdy and I play for Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California. As a junior, this is my second year as a varsity starter (my freshman year was spent starting on JV.) My coaches always compliment my work ethic and dedication. I am usually the first to arrive to practice and the last to leave, and spend many hours on my own drilling/improving my shots. As a sophomore, I was bumped up from JV to Varsity, but I wasn't expected to start, or get much playing time. Through hard work and perseverance, I ended up starting, receiving an all tournament award, and being the only one on my team to make first team all league. It has always been my dream to play college basketball, and along with that goal, I also hope to pursue my academic studies in a prestigious learning environment. I'm a 5'11" forward and am dominant handling the ball and scoring from the high post, low post, and the guard positions. My coaches also compliment my versatility in that I can shoot three pointers better than many posts, which gives me an edge over my opponents. I can run the floor, or act as a 'trailer' in order to optimize my shooting range. I work hard every day, am a coachable, team player, and look forward to pursuing the sport that I love at the next level. I'm interested in any college that I can fit in with both the team and the overall college community.
