Currently one of my academic short term goals is to do the best that I possibly can in the classes that I am taking right now as well as working on passing my AP exams in the spring and of course to graduate high school. My personal goal is to complete my college applications and to get accepted into the colleges that I have applies to. I am not quite sure what I would like to major in when I go off to college but figuring that out is another one of my short term goals. My long term goal is getting the highest degree possible in whatever I choose to major in. I know that obtaining the highest degree in my chosen field will be a difficult and lengthy process but I am determined and willing to put in the work. I would like to go straight through school so that I am able to keep moving forward. I hope to graduate college with much more than job opportunities, but with a stronger sense of self and a passion for continuing to learn new things throughout my life.
I love to play basketball. Basketball is a huge part of my life from being a player, coach, and soon learning to referee. One quote from legendary coach John Wooden really puts faith in perspective for me "I always tried to make clear that basketball is not the ultimate. It is of small importance in comparison to the total life we live. There is only one kind of life that truly wins, and that is the one that places faith in the hands of the Savior. Until that is done, we are on an aimless course that runs in circles and goes nowhere." Faith is the root from which everything stems from. It is something that we cannot taste or touch, but you can see the faith that other people have and you can feel secure in having faith in God, your family, and yourself. I know that I am going to need my faith to help me to achieve my goals over the next four years. I hope to maintain a good balance between academics, basketball, and my faith. I want to continue to grow in my faith, grow as a basketball player, as well as grow in my knowledge of the subjects that I am studying.
