My name is Amiya Payne and I am a Guard graduating in 2021. This year I will attend Hewitt Trussville High School and play for Coach Tonya Hunter. This will be my third year playing varsity basketball. I played the last two years at Clay Chalkville High under Coach Justin Haynie. I play club ball with the Alabama Southern Starz, coached by Kent Looney and Doug Bush. I am 5'11 and weigh 160.
I want to let you know about both some academic and athletic accomplishments. One of my biggest academic accomplishments is being ranked number 1 out of 200 plus students going into 8th grade and being inducted into the Junior National Honor Society. I made the varsity basketball team as a 7th grader. As an 8th grader, I was our Area Tournament MVP at Clay Chalkville High School. I finished the travel basketball season as the leading scorer for the Southern Starz 2021 team, averaging over 15 points per game. Another highlight is being on the ESPN HoopGurlz 2021 rankings, making the AAU Watchlist and being featured as a top 3 player at the 2016 Future Starz event.
I have played basketball since I was five and love it. I love the spirit of competition, teammates motivating each other, and the lessons I learn that apply to my regular life. I am a good candidate for your team because I am coachable, can handle the ball like a guard and get to basket like a big. I am also a strong scorer but know that it takes a team to win and can motivate my team.
I am interested in academic programs like Kinesiology, Sports Management, and related Pre-Physical Therapy Programs. I plan to update my profile with academic and athletic accomplishments as I move through high school. I will be sure post high school varsity basketball and club ball schedules. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Amiya Skye Payne
