What are the various types of softball events? How are they different?

There are four main softball recruiting events: camps, showcases, combines and clinics. Each of these event types has something different to offer you when it comes to your college recruiting process. Explore the pages linked below where we outline the benefits of each type of softball event.

  • Softball camps provide access to expert instruction and college coach exposure.
  • Softball showcases are the ideal recruiting event to get evaluated by college coaches because they offer both rotating drills and gameplay.
  • Softball combines are most valuable for athletes who need to update their verified measurements.
  • Softball clinics are great for young athletes who need to work on specific skills and athletes who have received skill improvement feedback directly from college coaches.

NCSA’s guide to choosing which softball events to attend

There are many different factors that go into choosing which softball events to attend. The two most important for your recruiting process are whether you’re looking for skill development or coach exposure.

Below, we break down when and why athletes typically attend each type of softball event.
