Cali Hinnant '20 Recruiting Profile

Hey Coach,

My name is Cali Hinnant and I am a 5’6” 120lb player from Suffolk Virginia. I am a class of 2020 prospective graduate from King’s Fork High School. I have been playing softball since I was 9 and pitching since I was 10.

I started playing travel ball with Smithfield Galaxy Fastpitch when I was 12. I have been the team captain since that time. I am the starting pitcher and play shortstop or first base when I am not pitching. I normally bat in the third or fourth spot in the lineup. The team is 106-31-1 since I joined including two NSA State Championships and one WFC World Series Championship.

As for my school ball career thus far: As an 8th grader, I was the starting pitcher with a record of 15-3. I pitched 91 innings and my key stats were: 129 strike outs, 11 walks, and an ERA of 0.53. I batted clean up and was the team captain. I was also voted team MVP. I am currently the starting varsity pitcher in my first season of varsity eligibility.

I think what I bring to a team is my “team first” attitude and relentless work ethic. I am the first to practice and the last to leave. I enjoy and work just as hard at practice as I do during the games. I love to support my teammates and get really excited when they succeed. I also understand that softball is a game of failure, so I try to pick them up when they stumble. During the game I use a lot of movement on my pitches to disrupt the hitter’s timing. I am still building on my speed but softball IQ and movement are my biggest assets at this time.

As far as school and post softball, I want to earn my degree in business and pursue my passion of being a professional makeup artist and business owner. I look forward to getting to know you and learning more about your school. Thank you for considering me.
