My name is Riley Magoon. I live in Colchester, Vermont and will graduate in 2018. Coming from a large family of baseball players, I was brought up playing with the boys. Baseball was in my family; however, being the first granddaughter I knew at some point I had to transition to playing with the girls. It turned out that transition was the best decision I could have made. I love the camaraderie in softball, and truly enjoy representing a team - whether it's for my town or travel organization. Playing softball for me has not only been about my love for the game, but softball also helps me push myself to be stronger on and off the field. Playing in stressful games not only makes me a better player, but I feel it makes me a stronger person as well. Knowing I can push through in a tight situation or make a key play, helps me in my daily life whether it be on the softball field or in the classroom. Coming from a small state like Vermont I have pushed myself to play at the highest level of game possible. I do not settle to be good enough for my town, but strive to be great and to be able to play places outside of Vermont. I have learned that although those long drives from Vermont to tournaments might make me car sick, it is 100 percent worth it getting to play at higher levels and improve my overall game. I wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in the health sciences, as I really enjoy helping people and hope to later work in the field of occupational therapy. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you. -Riley Magoon
