I have learned a lot about myself and others through playing softball. Ever since I became a pitcher around age of 9, I have always been over-looked and doubted because of my small frame. I have always been thin and lanky, therefore underestimated. Even in other sports that I have been involved in, I feel I have taken a back seat to the larger girls. This made me more determined to prove myself. Because of this obstacle, I have had to work harder than most to prove myself and gain the confidence of others. I have learned that through hard work and mental toughness, I can compete at any level, in any sport. I am the only freshman in my class to make and compete on the varsity volleyball team. I currently am a starting player on the JV basketball team, playing ahead of older girls. I can’t wait to see how I can compete in track, and especially in the sport I am most passionate about, softball.
