Sarah Welsh '17 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing softball since I was four years old.  I was a very strong willed kid and my parents told me they thought sports would help me learn to listen and get along with others.  For my first two seasons of t-ball, every time I got out, I would sit on the base and refuse to leave the field, I hated to get out.  My coach had to stop the game and come and carry me off the field over her shoulder.  Everyone laughs now and my parents were right, sports did teach me how to listen and be a good teammate.  I also played indoor soccer and competed in trampoline & tumbling.  I choose softball as my main sport and I still love the game. 

I love to have fun, I'm goofy and I enjoy making my teammates laugh, but I also know when it's time to work hard and be serious.  When I'm not on the field practicing, I'm cardio and strength training on my own, I am willing to work hard and earn what I want.  I was awarded "The Player" award from my high school coaches, it's for having a good attitude while helping and playing where they needed me.  My goal is to play softball in college on a team where the coaches challenge my athletic abilities and my teammates take care of each other.  My professional dream is to be an FBI agent and my athletic dream is for softball to be voted back into the Olympics and all I ask for is to play for one inning of one game and I'll be good.
