I started out as a regular kid just playing softball for fun. It was when my 10u coach asked me to play pick up for his tournament team that I gained a serious interest in softball. From then on, I just completely fell in love with softball. My drive, willingness to learn and constant support that I show to my team mates earned me a permanent spot on the team.
By playing softball I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons, but there are two that stuck out to me. The first one was to not give up. This is something every athlete has to learn when playing a sport, especially a softball player where you can fail more than you succeed. As long as there is time left on the clock, I give 100% until the game clock strikes zero. The second lesson I learned was to have fun in everything you do. When I remember to have fun, it makes everything better when I play the game. For example whenever my team is down runs we never stop cheering, and no matter what the end result is we are happy as long as we had fun and did our best. No one likes to lose but after a loss, I like to think about what I did well and also where I can make improvements.
