My grandfather passed away in 2015 but during his final years I was able to see nurses, physical therapists and doctors work as part of a team to try and keep him healthy so he could live at home. Watching this made me realize that I wanted to become either a physical therapist or a nurse, and be a part of a medical team. They worked hard in helping him and others like him overcome obstacles to return to a sense of normalcy. I also understand that I need to maintain good grades to achieve this goal which is why I am an honors student and am enrolled in several honors classes.
Being part of a team is also why I enjoy playing softball. It is about everyone working together to achieve the same goal. That is why I continually work to be a top performer. I learned how to play every position on the field but catcher in order to give my team and my coach flexibility to achieve our goals. It is also why I am either the #1 or #2 RBI person on my teams. I learned that making contact is important and a ground out to the opposite side of the field or a sacrifice fly can drive in a run and is just as important as a hit and contributes to achieving the team goal.
