My name is Catherine Hammer. I am 17 years old. I attend Archbishop Ryan High School, and I'm currently in my junior year. Along with playing on my school team, I also play for Philadelphia Spirit Gold 18U. I am 5'7" and 145 lbs. I have been playing softball since the time I was able to swing a bat. I have always loved this game. I love the level of intensity that this game gives to an athelete. For every club team I have played for, I have had a starting position either as a catcher or a 3rd basemen. Also, hitting has also been a strong point for me. I work tirelessly to be the best hitter I can be. This past year has really made me see how much I love this sport. It has also really start to make me think about playing softball in college. I know now that this is something I very much want to do. It is a chance of a lifetime to play a college sport and compete at such a high level.
For my whole life I have been an extremely hardworker. Everything I do, I make sure it is to the best of my ability. I am also a deep thinker. One who thoroughly tries to understand the meaning and reasoning behind everything. These traits have made me the student I am. When i graduated 8th grade, I had the highest overall average in my class. Freshman year I received honors each quarter. This year, my sophomore year, I too have received first honors for the whole year. Currently, I am ranked 23th in a class of 415 students.
The academic skills I possess are transferred over to the softball field. I make sure I understand every rule of the game. I never give up and always make a point to pick my team mates up when they are down. I am verbal and take leadership when it is neccessary, but I know when to keep my mouth shut and let others take over.
I am looking for a college outside of my hometown of Philadelphia. I love my city but I am looking to branch out. If possible, I would like to stay within a 4 hour radius of Philadalphia.
