I am the youngest of 4 daughters, all of who dreamed of college and career. My dream is different than my sisters. Since I was 6 years old I have wanted to play collegiate softball and then go on to the Olympics and World Championships. I can't imagine my future without softball being in it, and each day that I play my goal is to improve my skills, learn one new thing and never look back - only forward.
I maintain good grades, work part time and volunteer at a local animal refuge. I mentor and encourage the younger players on my teams, and in my neighborhood. When I was younger there were days that I thought I wasn't good enough. I received the encouragement needed to move forward, always improve and to never sell myself short, so this is what is important for me to give back to younger players.
Attending college will allow me to move forward with my dream. The education I will receive will be invaluable to my future and playing NCAA softball will continue my goal to always improve and learn. I am highly competitive and never give up on anything. Each day I push myself further. I am always eager to learn something new or different, and I accept a coach's critique as a necessity for improvement.
I don't know if I will have the opportunity to go on to a professional level of softball, but my college experiences will not only make my parents proud and myself gratified, they will give me the tools and opportunities necessary to continue forward. There will come a time when I can no longer play at a competitive level, and that is when my education and skills will allow me to stay involved through mentoring, coaching, training, etc. I can continue my dream through my involvement with future athletes and helping them to achieve their goals.
