My name is Abigail Gatza and I am catcher and third basemen from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. I have been playing softball for 9 years. Presently, I am a member of the Mississauga Southwest Hurricanes 14U travel (rep) team. Softball is my passion, and it is my dream to play in college. I am a great team player, I work hard, and I always strive to do my best on and off the field. My coaches tell me that I am coachable and I always lead by setting a strong example. I also play high school ball. My coaches places me at short stop and catcher as he feels that is the best fit for his team. I am happy to play wherever I’m most needed. In addition to playing travel and high school ball, I volunteer with a 10U team in my home organization, teaching and encouraging young catchers the fundamentals of the position. With respect to academics, this year I am a high school sophomore. Heading into my sophomore year, I am presently maintaining a 4.0 GPA and I plan to graduate in the 2020 class.
I am looking for a school with a great academic reputation, where I can play softball while also receiving an exceptional education. My goal is tograduate with a degree in Science, Math, or Education Studies. I would like to play at a Division 1 or Division 2 college. Ideally, I would like to play at a school in the East or Northeast; however, I am open to playing elsewhere if the school is a good fit for me.
