My name is Micalah Hensley. I attend Houston High School and graduate in 2016. I play for my travel team, Ohio Hawks, and for my high school team. I am a third year varsity player and i have started the past three years.
The goals that I want to achieve are to find a real academic and competitive college that I would like to attend. I would like to major in Athletic Training and minor in Foreign Language. My collegiate goals are to play softball throughout my entire career of college and to work with my teammates each day to have a successful season. My academics are important to me as well so I would focus on my major and minor subjects while playing softball. My goals for softball are to focus on critiquing my skills and advancing my knowledge for the game. Some of my other goals for this season of high school softball are to work on my stealing and where i need to hit the ball when a hit is needed at the time.
I would make a good candidate for a college team because each time i step into the gym or the field, i always strive to work my hardest in practice, games, and even off season. I focus on using the proper techniques and being able to do the right fundamentals. I am very coachable and I don't need to be told something over and over. I always listen to what the coaches have to say to me and I take all the advice I could possibly get. I'm not like most athletes, I love being pushed to my full potential, especially being a utility player. I can almost play anywhere the coaches put me. I strive to master each position that I am put in. I know my strengths and weaknesses in each position that I am in, but I always improve those weaknesses each time I am put there. I'm very versatile in offense. I am able to slap, power hit, bunt, and many other different hits. Another thing that makes me different from other recruits are my speed. I can run from home to first in 3 seconds and from first to third in 6 seconds. I can steal very well because I can read the catcher and pitcher each time I am on base. Personally I feel that I am different from other recruits by my character on and off the field. I always put my grades and team first before myself. My main goal for each team I play for is TEAMWORK! You always need to have the players to get along and work together. I can always work with girls that I play with no matter how each of the attitudes the other players have. I have extreme dedication and determination in softball. I always work on my skills and try to see what I could do better. When it comes to academics, I have an excellent 3.8 GPA in school. I always put my schoolwork first before any activities or just hanging out with friends. My grades and sports are extremely important to me because I love being active and keeping high grades to get into an excellent college.
I plan on going to college camps this summer to work on my skills and knowledge in softball. I also plan on keeping my grades high and keep working on softball each day!
