Letitia Bittinger '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Letitia Bittinger and I am 18 years young. I'm 5'6" and I weigh 180 lbs. I'm not necessarily a fast runner, but I can get where I'm going when I need to. I feel as if I'm a very smart baserunner. I know all the rules like the back of my hand. I currently go to a very small school and try my hardest to be the best. I play on three teams for East Canton High School: Varsity Softball, Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Bowling. I am an A- student for most classes but English is my specialty. I've always loved creative writing and I love to learn. Although I learned the game of softball at a very young age, I've tried my hardest to continue strengthening that knowledge until this very day. When I'm playing softball I'm in my comfort zone and nothing will ever change that. It's a fun game but when I'm on the field it's all business for me. Although in some cases I would work my tail off offensively and defensively and yet my team would still lose, but we kept trying. We fought through tough battles until we finally made it to state this past season. I broke the state homerun record, the Stark County strike out record for one season, the career strike out record for my school and I still have one year left. My freshman and sophomore years I was Second-Team All Conference and my junior year I was First-Team All Conference and MVP. During my junior year I was chosen for the Canton Repository's Athlete of the Week. Throughout my entire life, no matter what I do, other people feed off my attitude. All the teams I've ever played on have always looked up to me and although sometimes I did not want the role of the captain/leader, I held on to it with pride. I try to mentally steer my teammates and friends in the right direction and keep their mindsets positive. I want to go to a school that is at least a little bit decent in softball and has some sort of criminal justice course. I want to major in Pre-Law and English. For the longest time I wanted to be a Forensic Scientist, but then I took a college course at a Summer Honors Program at Akron University and that soon changed everything. I took two classes: Forensics and Life of a Lawyer. After I took those classes it made me realize that I would like to pursue law. I had my heart set on becoming a prosecuting attorney. I still would like to pursue law but I'm debating on two law-related occupations. I would love to someday join the FBI's BAU. Either way, I want to major in Pre-Law until I make my final decision. I would like to play softball until my body won't let me play anymore, but that might be a little bit of an exaggeration. I would absolutely love to play for the US National Team some day.
