Personal Statement

My name is Heather Mak and I am a senior at Manchester Memorial High School and will be graduating in 2016. I am the starting catcher for our varsity team. I have been on varsity since my freshman year where I played third base as well as outfield. I have been playing softball since I was 5 years old and have been playing competitive travel softball for 4 years. Ever since I was little I have always wanted to play softball at the collegiate level, especially as a catcher.

I am looking for a college that can fulfill both my academic and athletic aspirations. I am competitive on and off the field and always strive to do my best. I currently have a 3.92/4.0 GPA and I am ranked 6th in my class. I am a principal's list and high honor roll student. In order to push myself academically, I try to take the highest classes available. Education is extremely important to me and I have high expectations of myself. Each quarter I always set a goal to get straight A's and although I do not achieve that goal every time, I do the best I can.

I am very hard working and dedicated to both softball and my academics. On the field I like to consider myself a team leader. I take pride in being a catcher and I know that during the game everyone can see me, so I make it a goal to always stay positive and calm in stressful situations.

My goal is to find the best fit for me at a college that has a combination of strong academics as well as a competitive softball program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
