Softball has been one of the most influential elements of my life on many levels. I have been fortunate to be able to play softball for over a decade and am now in my 6th season of ASA play. Athletically, I have been able to challenge myself in all aspects of the game and have enjoyed working hard in the offseason to improve my play. Even more satisfying has been the other lessons which softball has taught me. I have learned how to both win and lose with grace and even temper. I have learned not to focus on the factors that I can not change, but that I can control my attitude, effort and energy. I have always cherished being on a team and the spirit and friendship which this brings. I love to see a team evolve over the offseason and strive to improve over the season. My coaches and older player mentors have been inspirational to me and have taught me how to approach the game and lead the team. I always try to be the most vocal, positive and supportive player on the team and view myself as a leader. Several years ago, I started a big sister-little sister program with my team and a U10 ASA team in our organization. I matched each player on our team with a younger softball sister and then we had events together. Ultimately, we came to our sisters games and supported each other in our tournaments. It was very satisfying to both help teach these players about the game, but also see their unbridled excitement. I feel that it is important to give back within the game and within your particular organization. I feel a strong sense for loyalty to my team and teammates. As many players jump around from team to team, I feel it is important to be loyal to your team and my friends who I play with. I have worn the same uniform number for 6 years and look forward to finishing my ASA career in the same uniform. I will bring the same loyalty and energy to my college team. I will graduate in 2015 and am currently seeking a college environment where I can both gain an education and play softball. I am interested in a strong liberal arts education with a focus in business education options. I am seeking a strong softball program which values team goals and sportsmanship. Please feel free to contact me if you think that I might be a suitable student for your college and an appropriate player for your team.
