Maggie Syversen '16 Recruiting Profile

My college goals and aspirations : 

To do what I love at a high level (softball), have fun in everything I do in life, create bonds and memories to last my whole life, and to be remembered

Why Me?

I am really coachable and team oriented. My coach once said,  “She is a hard-nosed player and will make sacrifices if it will give the team a win” (Dave Streyffeler). I also want to be at  school where I can push myself on the field as well as in the classroom. I always have a positive attitude. Even when I am disappointed in something I've done, I still come off the field and cheer for my team. You will hear my voice coming out of the dugout and from the field. I am not cocky. Liz Kelly, Former Dutch Olympic Head Coach, said that “Maggie is an unassuming, great hitter.” I am a natural leader, voted cheer captain my freshman year, and accepted into the Student Leadership Council. I have a consistent and intense work ethic, and the word, "lazy" is not in my vocabulary. For example, I have had hitting lessons from the time I was in 10U. Years of heading to the batting cages and thousands of swings later, I've been told that my swing is a naturally "beautiful" swing. I always thank them, but I know that it was a lot of work to get to where I am today.
