My name is Grace Wiest and I am a freshman at Marian High School. I have been playing softball since I was in T-ball at South East Little League. This Little League was associated with the team Twist. I had played on with them ever since we won state as 8u Little League All-stars for the state of Indiana. I had balanced dance, softball, and Up-Ward Basketball Teams. I finally decided that softball was my main priority. I quit dance and moved to travel softball with Twist until my first year of 12u . Then me and three of my best friends Elise Hutts, whom is a excellent pitcher, and my other close friend Marina Linner whom is a catcher. I admit I was not the best softball player, but I really tried to show improvement and actually got three MVP's from the year 2012 to 2017. We left to go to Indiana Thunder; which I loved so much I played with them the first year of 12u. I also loved that there was absolutely NO DRAMA! We had a few World Series births we decided not to attend. Honestly I was upset because I wanted that experience. Then when the team split up my friends and I went to Indiana Xplosion , a small team which I enjoyed. I learned so much and improved so much that year. At my grade school St Matthew I played softball for four years. Indiana Xplosion was not a success year the second year I played. I didn't feel I was getting the best coaching I needed. Then I found this amazing organization called Harris Heat. Then I have played 14u twice with Harris, now I am in 16u. I play starting catcher on my team, and also starting center fielder. My other positions include everywhere except pitcher and third baseman. My batting average is .627 for the season so far. I admit I do make errors just like everyone else. I'm okay if I gave my best effort, I always need to do 110 effort even practices and tournaments. My coaches always say that I am a hard worker and good at what I do. I think it`s about not just on the field but also when your on the way to your car, what attitude do you have towards you parents? What attitude do you give your teammates when your at an outside activity. You have to treat the parents with respect because who is making it able for you to play softball. They had to start you off somehow. Who`s paying for the gas, food, bats, and tournament shirts? Learning how to play T-Ball was the best moment of my life, because if my family had not started out with me at a young age, I would not be where I am now.
