Personal Statement

My goal is to play on a collegiate softball team at a school that will challenge me to grow both educationally and as a person.

The thing that makes me different is that I am an ultimate utility player.  On a regular basis, I’ve played middle infield, 1B,  and OF.  I am currently a Pitcher for my travel team, and Catcher for my HS team.  My attitude is the coach can put me at whatever position where I am needed most.

I am a strong offensive player, with an OBP between .400-.500, and typically lead my team in stolen bases and runs scored.  I am an adept bunter but primarily swing away.  My base running skills are exceptional. Part instinctive, part awareness; I know how to break up double plays, and am frequently “taking the extra base” (but also know when not to risk it).

When I'm on the field I'm acutely aware as to the location and habits of the players on the other team, and how they behaved at prior attempts, allowing me to make judgement calls appropriate for each situation.

I take softball very seriously and have great support from my parents.  They’ve provided me with a Pitching Coach, Catching lessons, and Hitting instructions.  I am improving all the time, and my coaches tell me the strong slope of my improvement is not flattening.

I am confident that I have what it takes to succeed at the next level.  My drive is seen in activities outside of softball also.  I’ve achieved a first degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, and have been on the Honor Roll at school every semester.  I am on my HS Debate Team and Co-Captain of the Ski/Snowboard Club.  This has allowed me to take leadership roles across a number of activities and enabled me to interact with people of different interests.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
