Ashlyn Kennedy '13 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Ashlyn Kennedy, as you probably know from all the information I have been filling out over the past couple of days. I am just a typical teenage girl with the love and passion for the game of softball. Softball to me, is such a mental game, and that is what makes it the most fun. Off of the field I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, but on the field I am completely focused. I have been known to have ice in my veins when I play softball. I ususally keep a straight face, not because I am angry, but because my focus level is 100% every game. In school I have good grades and make the honor roll. I always attend our school games and activities trying to stay involved as possible with my school and classmates. When I play softball I play with all heart and soul. The hardest thing for me to accept is that sometimes my best just isn't good enough. That saying motivates me to keep improving and try to learn from every mistake I make. I never get nervous when I play softball, I go into every game with a high confidence level and a strategy plan. I talk to myself through every play in the game, always thinking where am I going to go when the ball comes to me or where I think the pitcher is going to pitch to me. I grew up being a closer for my travel team so coming in with 3 balls and no strikes on a girl doesn't rattle me anymore. My strength is that I am mentally tough and can get myself through any situatuion in a game. Softball will forever be my favorite sport and I hope to go on and play in college.
