I attend Benet Academy where I’m in the graduating class of 2014. I’m primarily a pitcher, but I also can play outfield. I just love playing softball and competing, which are the main reasons I want to pursue playing in college.
Playing is definitely my favorite part of softball. I am so competitive; competition drives me to always work my hardest and to never let up. I work hard to be mentally tough – to battle through every pitch and at-bat whether I’m up or down.
My favorite two pitches in addition to my fastball are my change-up and screwball. I also throw a drop, a curve, and a rise. I really like mixing speeds and location, including challenging hitters inside. I don’t walk many hitters because I have good control and can throw each pitch anywhere in the count.
I’ve played softball since I was in kindergarten, and I’ve played at the travel level for seven years. I’ve played in high-level national and statewide tournaments several times.
I was the starting varsity pitcher in my sophomore year. We were #4 in the final Illinois Coaches Association poll; I have some awesome teammates and we had a great year. My record was 31-5 and I pitched 225 innings with a 2.15 ERA. We beat both of the eventual champions in Class 3A and 4A (the large school divisions) and went 6-0 against teams that were in the state semifinals. Please see the press clippings about my sophomore season – click on where it says “Season Schedule.” As a freshman. I was the number two varsity pitcher behind a two-time all-conference and all-area pitcher.
I take great pride in being a student athlete. I was just inducted into the National Honor Society, and my core weighted GPA is 94.04. I've earned 1st Honors every semester. I am enrolled in all of the high-level classes I can take, including both AP-level and honors-level courses. I also recently took both the PLAN (pre-ACT) and PSAT (pre-SAT) tests, and take the ACT and SAT in fall 2012. You can see my scores posted in my profile. I worked hard with a tutor this summer to help me do well on the ACT and SAT.
As of now, I am planning on a career in finance or accounting and so I'm interested those majors or economics. My goal is to play at the highest level possible at the best school possible!
I love competition and softball and hope that I can fulfill my life-long dream of playing in college!
