May 2015Personal Statement
There are a lot of really good pitchers available today, and I'm sure you're wondering what makes each one different. As a pitcher, there are three qualities that make me unique. The first is my SPIN. Nancy Evans, my pitching coach, tells me that my spin is similar to what you find on the west coast. She has helped me develop a strong rise, screw and tight curve. The second quality is my COMMAND. My travel coach, Augie Fontanetta, says that I have a very strong presence in the circle and that I field my position very well. The third quality is my CONTROL. Working with my high school coach, CathyAnn Smith, has helped me understand the importance of hitting my spots when using any one of my pitches. Finally, my teammates will tell you that I'm always there to support them, no matter how the game is going.
Off the field, I have been an active member of NHS and participate in Conant's Class Council every year. I even have a part-time job working at Play-It-Again sports, selling used sporting goods. Not only am I the store's "softball expert", but I also have learned a lot about both hockey and ski equipment!
