My name is Samantha Long. I prefer to go by Sami. I have a goal and strong desire to play college softball. I will be graduating from Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois in 2015. I am looking for colleges and universities that will best fit me, academically and athletically. I am a very competitive person both on the field and in the classroom.
My travel team is Midland Magic '97. The link to our website is: http://www.midlandmagicsoftball.pointstreaksites.com. We will play a very good schedule this summer. This past winter I played for the Midland Magic 18U team. We won both indoor tournaments that I played in and I hit well against multiple pitchers who had already committed to play Division I softball.
I am the lead off batter for my travel team. I am a middle infielder but my primary position for my travel team is second base. My batting average was near .500 last summer. Base running is one of my strengths, as I am quick and if given the opportunity will take the next base. I am proud to say that I was selected by ASA/Softball Factory to attend their Maryland Select Training Camp and play in the Softball Factory World Series in Kissimmee, Florida. This was a great experience for me as a player. This was a great way for me to show my love for the game with others who feel the same towards softball as well as further my development as a player. I was also asked to play with the Softball Factory in the 16U Ronald McDonald tournament in Houston, TX this October. Unfortunately, this conflicted with my Midland Magic team playing in the St. Louis (Chesterfield) exposure tournament.
In short, I have a very good work ethic and drive to play college softball. I have a very supportive family. My parents have always stressed the importance of academics so I push myself to do the best I can in the classroom. I am also actively involved in many activities at school and in my community. Thanks for reading my statement and previewing my video/profile.
