My name is Samantha Rosenfeld and I'm from Barrington, Illinois. I'm 5' 4" and I weigh about 125 pounds. I go to Barrington High School and I am a 2013 graduate with a 3.42 GPA.
I play for the Schaumburg Sluggers U 18 Gold team and I am the starting center fielder as well as lead off batter and I'm number fourteen. I'm a switch hitter and a lefty slapper, but I mainly slap. I can bunt, power slap, and also slap through the infield. I am working hard to be, as my coach calls it, a triple threat. My time from home to first is 2.81 seconds. So far this season, I've maintained a batting average of about 500.
I am playing the Barrington High School Varsity team in 2013. I am lead off batter and and am a starting outfielder. I am using all of my slapping techniques including slaps to short, second and third, drag bunts to first and second, power slap grounders or bouncers through the in field, and power slaps to the gaps in the out field. I have added power hitting this year.
My desire is to find a school that can benefit from my talents. I am coachable and eager to learn, and have spent all my spare time practicing to improve my skills since I was 7 years old. I batted as a righty and a power hitter until I learned to slap when I was 14 years old. I am left handed, so the switch was not that difficult for me. I signed up with ITrack to improve my batting focus. Practicing against high speed tennis balls, numbered and colored, worked well to improve my vision. I was starting 1st base until I turned 14, but my improved speed dictated moving to the outfield. I worked hard to earn the Center field spot so that I can Captain the outfield. My coach tells me I track the ball really well. I can still play 1st base when I am asked to do so. I love playing infield when I can.
I am not particular about the size school that I attend or its location. I love being in the dug out with my friends as a team and enjoy the competitiveness that softball offers. I play because I love the sport and am good at it. I can't imagine going to school and not playing softball.
