"People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success." -Norman Vincent Peale As a little girl, I started playing softball at the age of 5. I did not care much for the sport and every day I gave my parents a hard time about going to practice. Fortunately they did not listen to me. By the time I was 9 years old, I began to realize that I had developed some softball skills. In 2006, I was selected to the Mililani-Waipio Bobby Sox All-Star team and my team won the National Championship. Since then, my love for softball has grown. In fact, I am currently playing on two softball club teams and I am a certified umpire for the Central Oahu Youth Baseball League. I am a 5'7" Junior pitcher at Mid-Pacific Institute from Honolulu, Hawaii. I have 4 years of club softball experience with Hawaii Pearls and the Hurricanes. My Hurricanes team placed 2nd in the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) 2011 Thanksgiving Tournament. My Hawaii Pearls team placed 3rd (out of 100+ teams) at the Colorado Fireworks Tournament in July 2013. I am looking for a college institute that will allow me to balance both my education and desire to play collegiate softball. As a Junior in high school, I am still working on selecting a major for my college studies. I am currently interested in law, engineering, and psychology. I do have a preference for college institutes located in the Western or Eastern regions. Financial assistance is important in my college selection, since my family will have a need for financial aid. Ideally, I am looking for an athletic environment that will allow me to continue playing softball at the highest level, as well as, an educational program that encourages students to be independent and life-long learners that will make a difference.
