Ana Arriaga '13 Recruiting Profile

I'm 5'4" but I know how to use every inch of it to my advantage. I may not be the tallest person out there but jumping for balls just out of reach is my specialty. I made my high schools junior varsity as a freshman and played up with varsity a few times. On my JV team I started every single game we played and only sat out 2 innings the entire season. I was very proud of this achievement and didn't take my position as a starter for granted. I am a very hard worker. When I step in between those two white lines I push myself to be the best I can be. Giving up is not an option in my mind. You have to push yourself to your limits then keep going. Softball is a passion of mine and I play whenever I can. Sometimes without noticing what I'm doing, if I have an object such as a hairbrush in my hand, I will go through the mechanics of my swing. It's basically second nature at this point. I've always had it in my mind that I want to go to school in the south. This is partially because of the rich culture that I would love to expirience and also due to the fact that that region happens to be where most of the quality universities that offer majors in Veterinary Medicine are located. I am very open as to what type of school I want to attend, as long as it has the majors that I am looking into, which are veterinary medicine and sports medicine/training. I have set goals for myself in the past and once I've achieved them I've felt great. Goals keep me focused on my ultimate prize. My realistic goal would be to get playing time and contribute to the team and the outcome of the game. Another goal I have is to find the right fit for me. I perform best when I am motivated by those people to be the best I can be.
