My name is Hannah Brajkovich. I love softball because it is a team effort and that is what makes it so great in my mind. When I was a younger, I played Little League baseball and softball, I swam on the neighborhood swim team and played on the local soccer club. I was a pretty good swimmer and competitive soccer player, but when I was 13 I decided to focus on softball: my true love.
I am a very competitive person, whether it is sports, school, cards, badminton or anything else. My mom and I have even had some heated matches playing the card game “spit.” I have a drive inside of me. I set goals and work hard to achieve them. It is how I become the best I can be. Someone can be “smart” or “talented.” But working hard is how one gets better and that effort is needed sometimes more than just being “smart.” This is my work ethic and I apply it on and off the field.
Academically, I have always been strong in math and science, but I also like to write and frequently keep journals of my experience and how I am feeling about a situation. I would like to explore how I can combine my talents, skills and interests into a career. I am interested in women’s studies as well as nutrition and social media/learning. I have some time to sort it out, but I think a university with a diverse academic offering will be best for me since I am not sure what I want to study yet but it will likely include an interdisciplinary approach.
I like to explore - go and see new places, people and things. I think going to college in or near a larger city would be great for me. I feel that being at a great university near a city would allow me to easily go out have some fun when I have some free time away from school and softball.
Lastly, I am a leader. I lead by example. I lead by holding myself to a high standard of conduct, performance, commitment to working hard and achieving excellence. I strive for perfection but accept excellence. My teammates and coaches see my passion, intensity, desire and commitment. That’s how I lead and I am willing to work hard if given the opportunity to prove myself as a leader and a learner on your softball team.
