Since my younger brother and I were little, my parents have encouraged both of us to excel academically and to also try all types of sports as well as the performing arts. On the sports side, I tried gymnastics, soccer, swimming, flag football, baseball, volleyball and softball. As for the performing arts, I was able to experience singing, ballet, tap dance, and performed Hawaiian and Polynesian dancing. As I grew older, some of these interests fell to the side and I discovered that I had a passion to play two sports, volleyball and especially softball. On each team that I have been a member of, we have shared the highs of winning and the downside of losing. But most importantly, these teams have given me the opportunity to create lifelong friendships with girls and coaches. These experiences have also taught me that a positive attitude, hard work and determination will help you achieve your goals, whether in the classroom or on the field.
As a future graduate of Venice High School, Class of 2015, I have very high expectations of myself.; Education is very important to me and I have worked very hard academically so that I could reach my goal of attending college as a Biology major, Pre-Med or Pre-Vet. I currently hold a 4.3 GPA where I have been taking AP and Honors courses since my freshman year. While at Venice High, I have played on both the volleyball and softball teams. I lettered my sophomore and junior year in volleyball, and freshman, sophomore and junior year in softball. In my sophomore year, I was a member of both the volleyball and softball teams that won the Los Angeles City Championships.
Volunteering is an important part of my life as my family has always been involved in helping within our community. When I am able to, I volunteer with my classmates to raise funds for class events, having worked with Chatelaines and Esquires and Knights and Ladies, two of our school’s service programs. I also enjoy assisting as a volunteer junior coach at our local little league, Westchester Del Rey Little League, which is where I began playing softball. With my family, we volunteer in many community events, from 5k races to providing gifts to hospitalized veterans during the holiday season.
I consider myself an overachiever and I have worked very hard, academically and athletically, to achieve my goals. I also consider myself a team player because I try to support and inspire my team to play at the highest level. I intend to bring my positive attitude, hard work and determination to my team at the collegiate level. And with my teammates, I expect that we will work together to play at the highest level, win championships and make fantastic memories.
