HI my name is Taylyn Andreassen,
I am 15 years old and a junior in High School at Brookswood Secondary in British Columbia. From a very young age I couldn't wait to play softball. I played baseball with the boys at age four because I didn't want to wait until age six to play softball with the girls.
My approach to life has always been simply this, that "no' is not part of my vocabulary. I strive to do my best at everything that I do, academics, sports, art, simply being average has never held my interest. If I find something challenging I always find a way through it as I have the drive and the tenacity to get where I need to go. Challenging obstacles are just that, a puzzle that needs to be solved or a hill that needs to be conquered.
On the field I am a aggressive talkative team player that likes to ensure that all players are in sync when it comes to knowing the next play. I will be the one that consistently helps to motivate the team and keep spirits high when others may be struggling with their game. I take direction well and will work extremely hard to get my craft (my game) to it's maximum potential. My infectious spirit is just that, on and off the field.
It has always been my dream to play softball at a university or a college level in the United States as there are a lot more opportunities south of the border for a softball player then here in Canada. I currently train 5-6 times a week in several multi-disciplines, weight training, defensive training, batting, pitching and core training.
I have been working with a private batting coach that has been helping me to unleash the power within my core which has improved my hitting. I have also been working with a private pitching coach for the last few months learning technique and I hope to move from a thrower to a pitcher. Due to this newly acquired skill my team coach has asked me to join the established team pitchers for additional pitcher training.
As of right now I am interested in studying Forensic Anthropology, which is the study of human remains. This is not a common nor easy discipline of study, but I have never shied away from anything challenging.
I am extremely passionate about this sport and look forward to continue to grow as a player and as a individual. I set goals personally as well as in sports so that I am able to measure my successes and reevaluate them continuously.
I look forward to hearing from coaches that feel that I can contribute to their teams on-going success and can help me elevate my game as a player.
Thanks.
Taylyn Andreassen
